Pasir Panjang, Redang
Pasir Panjang, also known as Long Beach, is a very wide sandy beach with one of the clearest beach waters in Malaysia.
This beach is surrounded by white sand and resorts. The highly recommended Laguna Redang Island Resort and Coral Redang Island Resort are the more popular resorts on the beach. If you’re a fan of snorkelling or diving, this is the right spot to be! Tanjung Tengah and Tanjung Mak Cantik are the more popular spots for snorkelling.
Tourists come by Pasir Panjang for tanning because that’s where the sun is in Redang. Popular activities include beach volleyball and beach soccer.
Kapas Island
This island is unlike most popular Malaysian beaches with lots of tourists. Kapas Island is a very relaxing place to be. You’ll see people on hammocks under the shade taking a nap or reading a book.
Kapas Island is located in Terengganu, where it will not be open to the public during the monsoon season (November-February). The best time of the year to visit is between April and August. If you’re on a tight budget, coming here will not be a hassle. Tourists and locals alike camp and cook by the beach to save on expenses and live the rustic beach lifestyle.
One of the more popular things to do here is to go on beach walks, following the notable golden stairway that spreads along the beach. People also enjoy going on jungle walks.
Rawa Island
Rawa Island is a small coral island off Johor. Only two resorts are allowed on the island. The beachfront rooms and chalets give off a very clean, white Santorini vibe just like the sand on the beach.
This island is surrounded by beautiful sea creatures like jellyfish, squids and even black-tip reef sharks. We recommend kayaking around the beach area or even heading over to the water slides just along the beach.
We’d also suggest hiking up the hill for about 20-25 minutes to look at the stunning view from the highest point of the island. All you Instagram crazy people would die to get pictures of this beautiful island.
Sipadan Island
Sipadan Island, off the east coast of Sabah, has been a popular destination to be at after it was named the best dive spot in the world.
Its beautiful corals and marine life expands to almost 3000 species, which is why scuba divers and snorkelers are in love with this spot! One of the spots that divers will definitely visit is the Turtle Cavern, an eerie limestone cave where turtles are said to go when they die.
Undeniably perfect for divers, this island is also known for exotic tropical bird viewing such as Kingfishers, Sunbirds and Sea Eagles. Get your diving license and goggles on, it’s time for an adventure!
Lang Tengah Island
Lang Tengah Island, located in Terengganu, is a small island with amazing activities. It’s also a place where you can get away from tourists.
If volunteering is your thing, come to the Lang Tengah Turtle Watch and help save turtles and turtle eggs from poachers. This service also provides activities during the day like cliff jumping, jungle trekking, snorkelling and also night diving.
Just like most islands, Lang Tengah is also known for their great diving spots like Karang Bahar and Goby Garden. If you’re not much of a swimmer, hop on and off a kayak while visiting the island’s beaches. Visitors of the island also like to hike Batu Kuching in the morning to catch the marvellous sunrise and view.
Pangkor Island
Pangkor Island well located between Kuala Lumpur and Penang, is a very family-oriented destination. Most hotels and resorts are family friendly. They offer affordable beach fronts and also dirt cheap budget hotels.
As an island filled with a historical past, Pangkor Island has been a popular spot for tourists to visit. It is filled with so many beaches nearby such as Pasir Bogak, Teluk Nipah, and Coral Bay.
