1. Play with huskies at the Huskitory

Malacca has its own pet attraction called the Huskitory. This place is a combination of a pet shop and a cafe. Guests can order drinks at the cafe and enjoy your time playing with several of the huskies. A total of twenty huskies call this place home. Catch them in action when 8 or more are allowed outside to play in their outdoor pen. If you have huskies of your own, you can get some of your much-needed pet supplies here.

2. Fruit picking, eating and more at Melaka Tropical Fruit Farm

At Melaka Tropical Fruit Farm, you can pick your fruit and eat it too. The farm can be reached via private car, about 20 minutes from the town center. Its 173 acres of land not only has different fruit trees, it also has coffee and rubber trees as well as herbs. Outdoor activities include tram riding, rafting, boating, and many more. Camping facilities are also available, as well as hostel services for those wanting to stay overnight.

The farm offers an Agro Tour package that takes visitors around the farm in a tram, where they learn about fruits, herbs, pick quail eggs, and sample fruits in a fruit buffet. A minimum of 40 persons can be accommodated per tour, for a minimum fee of SGD 11 per person. Shorter farm tours are also periodically conducted between 9am to 5pm.

3. Go fishing in Pantai Sering

Fancy making your own catch and having it cooked right in front of you? You are in for a treat when you go deep sea fishing in one of the several family-owned kelongs off the waters of Pantai Sering in the Malacca Straits. Kelongs are family-owned offshore structures, which are used as fishing platforms and sometimes temporary shelter for fishermen.

There are 24 kelongs you can choose from. For a fee of less than SGD 15, you will be given 24 hours fishing privileges. The family will bring you to their kelong where you can fish all you can. You can bring your sea bounty to the jetty’s cafe where the resident chef can cook them up to your liking.

4. Enjoy the Original Coconut Shake in Klebang

This unassuming stall in the Klebang beach area is famous for its creamy mix of coconut juice, coconut bits mixed with ice and topped with vanilla ice cream. It’s a perfect dessert, and something to quench your thirst after a day out in the city. You can pair off your coconut shake with snacks like fried noodles, Nasi Lemak, and curry puffs. Klebang Besar is only 15 minutes away from the city center.

5. Relive your childhood at the Mamee Mega Factory

Fond memories of one’s childhood are usually associated with many things, but for Singaporeans, one of them is probably downing several packs of Mamee Noodle Snacks. Whether at school, at home or at home, this snack has been a part of growing up.

In Malacca, you can relive some of your childhood memories with a visit to the Mamee Mega Factory, located right here in the city. Tours of the factory have to be arranged beforehand, as the factory manager will give you an informative tour of how our favorite noodle snack is made. Bring along your kids so they can share this experience with you.

6. Customize your own cup noodles at Mamee Jonker House

Mamee Jonker House is the first ever concept store for the Mamee brand of noodles and noodle snacks. Located in the famous Jonker area of Malacca, this store not only sells Mamee noodles and merchandise, it also has an in-house Mamee Cafe where visitors can enjoy a meal or two made from the company’s noodle products.

Kids and ‘kids at heart’ will surely love Noodle Doodle, an attraction that allows guests to customize their own noodle cups. You can add your favorite flavorings and seasoning to your very own cup noodle creation for about SGD 2 for 6 cups. The best part is you get to take it home and enjoy it when you get back from your trip. They also organize Lil Monster Kitchen workshops on Saturdays and Sundays, where kids are taught how to make noodles from scratch. The workshops cost around SGD 6 per person.

7. Learn More About Sea Turtles at the Turtle Management Centre

If the closest encounter you have had with a sea turtle is in Finding Nemo, you are in for a treat at the Malacca Turtle Management Center. Malacca, particularly Padang Kemunting, is one of the few areas where critically endangered Hawksbill turtles still come to nest.

Come and visit the turtle sanctuary during nesting season, which is from March to September. The best time to visit would be during its peak, which usually starts in May. You can catch some volunteers releasing baby turtles to the sea, and learn about this magnificent sea creature at the centre.

8. Dance on Glass Panels 42 Floors Up at The Shore Sky Tower

Conquer your fear of heights at this local attraction. The Shore Sky Tower is the tallest building in Malacca, at 163 metres from street level. On its 43rd floor, there is an observation deck where you can get a 360-degree view of Malacca all the way to the nearby islands off the Straits of Malacca.

For a more adventurous view, step on the glass bottom ledge and have your photo taken. The observation deck is accessed from the 42nd floor of Tower 1. There is also a restaurant on the 42nd floor, where you can dine with a marvelous view. Admission for adults is RM 25 or around SGD 9.

9. Marvel at the Malacca Straits Mosque, a floating mosque

Off the Straits of Malacca is a one-of-a-kind floating mosque called by locals as Masjid Selat Melaka. It was constructed by the state government of Malacca in 2003 and completed in 2006. The mosque is built on a man-made island called Pulau Melaka so when the water level is high, it appears as if the mosque is floating on water.

Another striking feature of the mosque is its 30-meter minaret, which doubles as a beacon for sea vessels passing through the straits. Its architecture is a beautiful mix of Middle Eastern and Malay design elements, making this a unique architectural gem. Take note that the mosque has a strict dress code for everyone who enters. Admission is free.

10. The Wonders of the Ocean up close at the Shore Oceanarium

The Shore Oceanarium is the newest indoor aquarium in the city. This attraction is located on the 2nd floor of The Shore Shopping Centre, which is the highest building in the city. With 14 exhibits or zones, you and your kids can learn more about the amazing underwater world.

Kids particularly love the Interactive Touch Pool which is like a petting zoo for sea creatures. Learn about sea shells and how important they are to marine ecology at the Sea Shells Museum. Take a closer look at the greatest predator of the sea, the shark, at the Shark Quest zone. Admission for adults is RM 35 or around SGD 12.
